With the job hunting season well under way, I thought I would give a list of tips, tricks, and guiding principles I’ve learned from hunting both this season and seasons past. Most of this advice centers around finding a Product or SWE job, but I’m sure some of it applies to other industries as well.
I’ve interned in Product Management before (@Intralinks) and am doing it again this summer (@Shipt). I’m about halfway through my current internship so I thought I would share some things I’ve learned the second time around.
I’m always trying to improve and invest in my sleep. I use blackout curtains, a white noise machine, I try to charge my phone outside of my room, I use blue-light glasses, I cover blinking electronic lights with black tape. When I heard about this new thing called a weighted blanket, I was very excited to try it. I asked for and got it for Christmas. It costs a little more than 200 dollars.
Running or helping to run an on-campus start-up can be a lot of fun. You have a direct impact on campus, you get to meet and interact with people in ways you haven’t before, and you finally have a go-to fun fact about yourself. It can also be a lot of stress. Here are some tips I’ve put together with the help of my fellow student founder’s at BC.
Earlier this week, I attended the demo day for the SSC summer accelerator program. It was a hike all the way to 200 State Street in downtown Boston on the first day of classes but well worth it. The three companies showcased were Fisherman, Brüzd Foods, and Wunderite.
